Why Baptism is Important
One area that we get frequent questions about involves the importance of baptism. Is it important if a person has already prayed for salvation?
The following should answer your questions and help you answer the questions of new-believers.
Baptism is an act of obedience symbolizing the believer’s faith in a crucified, buried, and risen Savior. It also signifies the believer’s death to sin, the burial of the old life, and the resurrection to walk in newness of life in Christ Jesus. It is a testimony to the believer’s faith in the final resurrection of the dead in Christ.
Water is a symbol used in the baptism ceremony to express Christian belief that God forgives and washes away sin. It also signifies the need to live a life which reflects faith in God.
The main focus of the ceremony is to be a public declaration by
the candidate for baptism of their faith and decision to follow Christ .
Some parents may seek to have Baby Dedication or Christening services for infants. Even if a person was christened as a baby, it is an important to seek to be baptized when they are old enough to make the decision to follow Christ.
