4 Steps For Sharing The Gospel… To Anyone!
When seeking to share your faith, having the right information makes things clearer to the person you are speaking to, and helps you to be more confident in your ability to share God’s plan for salvation.
Make sure that person that you are witnessing to understands these four points for themselves:
1. I have sinned and I am a Sinner
This is the first thing that a person must realize to be saved. Why would a person need a Savior if they don’t need to be saved from anything?
Shame and pride can blind us of what we have done wrong. Many may not confess their sins because it may hurt their egos to see their sin. But, it is important to face and confess our sins in order to be forgiven for them.
“If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.” 1st John 1:8-10
So if a person doesn’t see themself as being sinful, then they can’t be saved, because they are still in darkness as 1st John 1:10 states.
2. I Deserve to Go to Hell
Romans 6:23 plainly states that “..the wages of sin is DEATH.”
When God warned Adam and Eve that they would die if they ate of the forbidden fruit, they didn’t DIE physically until hundreds of years later. But, they DIED SPIRITUALLY that very day. All of mankind has been born spiritually dead ever since (Romans 5:12).
Yes, you were born spiritually dead. Everyone who dies in their sins, without being born again will go to Hell. That is why we say you are “Saved”. You are literally saved from never ending torment in hell.
But we all can be saved.
3. Jesus is THE SAVIOR
Jesus literally took our sins upon Himself, and added His righteousness to our record.
Jesus, who knew no sin, became as sin, that we who knew no righteousness could be made the righteousness of God (2nd Corinthians 5:17).
Jesus’ blood saved us forever. Hebrews 9:12 states,
“Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us.”
4. I Am Saved by Receiving Jesus Christ as MY SAVIOR
Knowing that Jesus is the Savior is one thing. Totally believing on Him to be your personal savior is how you receive salvation. It is important that you receive the salvation of Jesus in your heart and fully completely. John 1:12,13 states…
“ But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God. 13 They are reborn—not with a physical birth resulting from human passion or plan, but a birth that comes from God.”
You’ve asked if they want to be saved, and they said YES! Minister Danen Butler shared this short and effective salvation prayer:
Dear Lord Jesus,
Thank you for dying on the cross for my sin. Please forgive me. Come into my life. I receive You as my Lord and Savior. Now, help me to live for you the rest of this life.
In the name of Jesus, I pray.
Amen.”
These 4 basic tenants should help you share your faith, and help someone find their way to salvation.
